Stop play Press x.
Pause Press X PAUSE (or X on the
remote). Press again to
resume play.
Fast-forward

Searching for beginning of a track
(AMS)*
Press – . or > + (or . or > on the
remote) repeatedly during playback for the
number of songs you want to skip forward (or
backward).
The display shows the number of tracks to be
skipped.
* The Automatic Music Sensor (AMS) feature
detects a blank space of more than four seconds
between tracks to locate tracks quickly.
Notes
The AMS function may not operate correctly under
the following circumstances:
When the unrecorded space between songs is less
than 4 seconds long.
When the system is placed near a television.
If the system stops during tape playback or
recording due to a power failure or other reason, do
not attempt to forcibly eject the tape as this may
damage the heads. Wait until the power is restored,
then be sure to press ?/1 to turn on the system
before ejecting the tape.

Playing a tape
1 Load a tape.
2 Press DIRECTION repeatedly to select
g to play one side. Select j* to
play both sides.
To play both decks in succession, select
RELAY (Relay Play)**.
3 Press n N.
Press n N again to play the reverse side
for the deck B. When you select j or
RELAY, the deck automatically stops after
repeating the sequence five times.
Tape playback side
>>> appears for the front side, and <<< for
the reverse side.
* Deck A does not play the reverse side.
**After the playback of the front side of deck A,
deck B repeats the sequence five times.
Loading a tape
You can use only TYPE I (normal) tape.
1 Press TAPE A/B repeatedly to select
deck A or B.
2 Press Z.
3 Insert a tape in deck A* or B with the
side you want to play/record facing
forward.
