5. Check the back speaker phasing: Turn the BACK LEFT and
RIGHT LEVEL controls fully clockwise, and the FRONT LEFT
and RIGHT LEVEL controls fully counterclockwise. tf the back
amplifier has its own volume (or level} and balance controls,
set them to their usual position. Move the back speakers so
that they are about 30cm (one foot) apart and facing each
other. Do likewise as described in Step 4.
After checking the back speaker phasing, turn the FRONT
LEFT and RIGHT LEVEL controls fully clockwise. .
6. Check the front-back channel phasing: Make sure that the
four speaker sound levels are at nearly the same, and the
MASTER VOLUME control is set to the usua! level. Then,
mute either channel by turning the LEFT (or RIGHT) FRONT
and BACK LEVEL controls fully counterclockwise. Position
the front and back speakers as in Step 4. Move the PHASE
INVERTER switch to NORMAL and INVERT, while listening to
the same bass passage. if there is less bass with the switch
set to NORMAL, the front and back amplifiers were incorrectly
phased, so set the switch to INVERT. However, if the bass
appears to decrease with the switch set to INVERT, the ampli-
fiers were correctly phased, and you should leave the switch
set to NORMAL.
Return the speakers to their proper location.
