ADAPTING
TO
LOCAL
POWER
SOURCE
The
SQD-2020
operates
on
either
110V,
127V,
220V
or
240V
ac.
Before
operating,
check
whether
or
not
the
SQD-2020
is
set
for
the
same
voltage
as
your
local
power
source.
The
voltage
selector
can
be
reset
as
follows:
1.
Disconnect
ac
power
cord
before
proceeding.
2.
Loosen
the
two
screws
on
the
voitage
selector
cover
(but
do
not
remove
the
arrow-marked
screw
from
the
cabinet).
3.
Move
the
cover
aside
so
that
you
can
unplug
the
selector.
4.
Pull
out
the
selector
and
reinsert
it
so
that
the
arrow
on
the
plug
points
to
the
proper
voltage
marking.
5.
After
changing
voltage,
replace
the
cover.
DO
AND
DON’T’S
No
doubt
you
have
already
decided
on
a
location
for
your
SQD-
2020.
However,
before
going
ahead
with
the
installation,
make
sure
that
your
choice
of
location
agrees
with
the
following
list
of
DO
and
DON’T‘s.
DO
allow
sufficient
room
behind
the
SQD-2020
so
you.--1
make
connections
to
the
rear
panel
without
disrup.
J
your
entire
setup.
DON'T
place
the
SQD-2020
in
direct
sunlight,
or
near
radiators,
hot-air
ducts,
or
any
other
source
of
heat.
Similarly,
don’t
place
it
in
any
areas
subject
to
freezing
tempera-
tures
or
excessive
moisture.
DON’T
connect
the
SQD-2020
to
any
voltage
other
than
that
indicated
by
the
voltage
selector.
DON’T
make
connections
with
power
turned
on.
SYSTEM
CONNECTIONS
The
owner
of
a
good
quality
two-channel
system*
can
convert
to
a
four-channe!
system
by
adding
the
Sony
SQD-2020,
a
back
power
amplifier
and
two
more
loudspeakers.
*
Stereo
system
must
have
a
tape/source
monitor
selector.
Use
the
existing
connections
between
phono,
fm/a-m
tuner
or
auxiliary
sources
and
the
front
amplifier.
But
reconnect
the
two-channe}
tape
recorder
to
the
SQD-2020.
Refer
to
the
illustration
on
pages
8
and
9.
For
best
four-channe!
reproduction,
use
amplifiers
with
thes.
+
power-rating
and
speakers
with
the
same
characteristics
for
the
front
and
back
channels.
However,
even
if
the
front
and
back
speakers
(or
amplifiers)
are
different,
you
will
get
good
results
after
adjusting
channal
levels
as
directed
on
pages
18-31.
