Why my SPX Power Team PE183-2 Water Pump electric motor does not run?
    • T
      Tamara WagnerAug 14, 2025
If the SPX Water Pump's electric motor isn't running, make sure the switch is in the RUN position and that the unit is properly plugged in. Check the line voltage and the reset button on the power panel. If these steps don't solve the issue, the brushes may be worn and need replacement. Also, the circuit breaker might have tripped due to high amperage; try an alternative circuit or consult an electrician for an additional one. The motor could be overheated (for single-phase motors) or the magnetic starter disengaged (for three-phase motors); let the motor cool and reset the thermal protector. If the thermal protector or magnetic starter is faulty, replace them.

What to do if SPX Water Pump is not delivering fluid?
    • A
      Ann BentleyAug 18, 2025
If your SPX Water Pump isn't delivering fluid properly, start by checking the fluid level and adding more if it's low. Ensure the quick-disconnect couplings to cylinders are fully connected and replace them if worn. Bleed air from the system. Inspect the suction line for air leaks and tighten it if necessary. Clean the pump filter for debris. If using a double-acting cylinder, cap the hoses to check for leaks in the pump and valve. For cold or heavy fluid, drain, flush, and refill the reservoir with a lighter fluid. If the power unit/reservoir capacity is too small, consider using smaller cylinders or a larger reservoir. Also, check for a vacuum in the reservoir by cleaning the vent in the filler plug.

Why SPX Power Team PE183-2 builds pressure but cannot maintain it?
    • S
      Steven MartinAug 21, 2025
If your SPX Water Pump builds pressure but can't maintain it, check for external fluid leaks and seal any leaking pipe fittings. If no external leaks are visible, the problem is internal. If you're using a double-acting cylinder, remove it to ensure the leak isn't in the cylinder. Also, inspect the pressure switch seal for leaks and replace the pressure switch if necessary.

How to troubleshoot SPX Power Team PE183-2 Water Pump that does not build to full pressure?
    • L
      Laurie RichardsAug 26, 2025
If your SPX Water Pump doesn't build to full pressure, begin by replacing the pressure gauge, as it may be faulty. Check for any external leakage and seal faulty pipe fittings. If using double-acting cylinders, remove the cylinder from the pump to check for internal leakage. If the pump then builds full pressure, the cylinder is defective.

Why SPX Power Team PE183-2 Water Pump motor stalls or overheats?
    • K
      Kristin AlvarezAug 28, 2025
If the electric motor of your SPX Water Pump stalls, surges, overheats, or won't start under load, the issue might be low voltage or an electrical cord that's too small. Refer to the electric motor information and electrical cord chart in the Initial Setup section of this manual for guidance.
