3752 Series Electronic Height Gage
User’s Guide
INTRODUCTION
This height gage is another example of the quality measuring tools produced by The L. S. Starrett
Company. Simple operation, self-contained digital electronic readout and accuracy are combined
to provide a new experience in height gage measurement.
FEATURES
Large Digital Display
Measured values are displayed in large characters using a liquid crystal display (LCD) which can
be easily read. Up to six digits are displayed with four decimal places for inch reading mode and
two decimal places in the millimeter-reading mode.
Preset Capabilities
This feature enables a user to pre-assign a reading of any value into the display at any position of
the slide.
Limits
The minimum and maximum limit of a tolerance can be set using this feature. This is useful so
that a user can set pass/fail criteria when measuring repetitive dimensions and desires to auto-
mate quality screening processes on the production or shop floor.
Floating Zero Capacity
The display can be set to zero at any position of the measuring slide. This feature is especially
useful when measuring the difference between two or more features on an object, eliminating
hand calculation of the two measurements. Also, it is useful to “zero” the gage on an alternate
datum along a part under evaluation.
Plus and Minus Display
Only negative values will have a sign displayed before the digit indicating negative position with
relation to zero. This feature also allows use of the gage as a comparator. Zero can be set at a
known position and variations read directly as plus or minus deviation.
Inch/Millimeter Display
Measurements may be displayed in inches or in millimeters as selected by the switch. This
option is a direct conversion and can be done at any position on the scale without changing the
reference zero position or the displayed measurement.
