11. FUEL SYSTEM
11.1 Air Filter

The air filter's function is to remove dust
and dirt sucked in with the combustion air
and thus help reduce wear on engine
components to a minimum.
Dirty and clogged air filters reduce engine
power, increase fuel consumption and
make starting more difficult.
The air filter should always be cleaned
when engine power begins to drop off.
In machines with digital ignition the
carburetor with compensator keeps the
fuel content in the mixture constant at all
times, irrespective of how dirty the filter is

- Before removing the air filter, close the
choke shutter to prevent dirt falling into
the carburetor.
