17 Maintenance
17.1 Maintenance Intervals
The maintenance intervals are dependent on the
environmental and operating conditions. STIHL
recommends the following maintenance inter‐
vals:
Every 12 months
Have the trimmer checked by a STIHL servic‐
ing dealer.
18 Repairing
18.1 Repairing the Trimmer, Battery
and Charger
The trimmer, cutting attachment, battery and
charger are not user serviceable.
If the trimmer or cutting attachment is dam‐
aged: Do not use your trimmer or cutting
attachment and contact your STIHL servicing
dealer.
If the battery has a malfunction or is damaged:
Replace the battery.
If the charger has a malfunction or is dam‐
aged: Replace the charger.
If the connecting cable has a malfunction or is
damaged: Do not use the charger and have
connecting cable replaced by a STIHL servic‐
ing dealer.
19 Troubleshooting
19.1 Troubleshooting the brushcutter or battery
Malfunction LEDs on the
brushcutter
Cause Remedy
The brushcutter
does not start
when switched
on.
1 LED flashes
green.
The charge level of
the brushcutter is too
low.
Charge the battery.
1 LED lights
up steady red.
The battery is too
warm or too cold.
Remove the battery.
Allow the battery to cool down or warm
up.
3 LEDs flash
red.
The brushcutter is too
hot.
Remove the battery.
Allow the brushcutter to cool down.
4 LEDs flash
red.
There is a fault in the
battery.
Remove the battery.
Clean the electrical contacts in the bat‐
tery compartment.
Insert the battery.
Switch on the brushcutter.
If 4 LEDs continue to flash red: Do not
use the battery; contact a STIHL author‐
ized dealer.
No electrical contact
between brushcutter
and battery.
Remove the battery.
Clean the electrical contacts in the bat‐
tery compartment.
Insert the battery.
The brushcutter or
battery is damp.
Allow the brushcutter or battery to dry,
20.6.
The cutting attach‐
ment is stuck.
Remove the battery.
Clean the brushcutter, 16.1.
The brushcutter
cuts out during
operation.
3 LEDs light
up steady red.
The brushcutter is too
hot.
Remove the battery.
Allow the brushcutter to cool down.
There is an electrical
fault.
Remove the battery and reinsert it.
Switch on the brushcutter.
