3. OPERATION
WolfPac
2500
3.2 FUEL AND OIL
DO NOT MIX OIL WITH FUEL. The engine has a
separate oil reservoir in the crankcase. Unleaded
gasoline is recommended for use in the engine since it
leaves less combustion chamber deposits.
FUEL IS BOTH TOXIC AND FLAMMABLE.
DO NOT SMOKE WHILE WORKING WITH
FUEL. DO NOT USE NEAR OPEN FLAME.
ALWAYS STOP ENGINE BEFORE REFUELING.
CLEAN UP SPILLED FUEL BEFORE STARING.
AVOID FIRES BY KEEPING ENGINE CLEAN
OF ACCUMULATED GREASE AND DEBRIS.
START, STORE AND REFUEL ON LEVEL
GROUND TO PREVENT PERSONAL INJURY.
DO NOT RUN UNIT IN AN ENCLOSED, NON-
VENTILATED AREA. AVOID PROLONGED
BREATHING OF VAPORS AND SKIN CONTACT.
SERIOUS ILLNESS OR LOSS OF LIFE COULD
RESULT.
Keep the vent hole in fuel tank cap open. If vent hole
is plugged, pressure may build up in tank, causing
carburetor flooding or dangerous spraying of gasoline
when tank cap is removed. A vacuum may also be
created during operation which could stop fuel flow.
3.2.1 Gasoline Fuel
Always use fresh, unleaded gasoline (86 octane min.).
Fresh gasoline is blended for the season and reduces
gum deposits which could clog the fuel system. Do not
use gasoline left over from the previous season.
Refer to the Engine Manual for break- in.
3.2.2 Engine Oil
SAE 10W-30 API SH or SJ (oil with "starburst"
certification mark) is recommended for general, all
temperature use. Check daily for proper oil level. DO
NOT OVERFILL.
ENGINE IS EQUIPPED WITH LOW OIL SHUT-
DOWN. ROLLER WILL SHUT DOWN IF
ENGINE OIL IS LOW.
3.2.3 Hydraulic Oil
Check the hydraulic fluid level in the expansion tank,
lift seat from back and remove breather (1 - 1/16
wrench). Use an oil stick to measure the amount of oil
in expansion tank. Oil should measure 1 - 1 /2" to 2"
from top.
For satisfactory operation, the following fluid
conditions apply:
Accurate level readings can be checked only
when the fluid is cold.
If the natural color of the fluid has become
black or milky, it is possible that an
overheating or water contaminant problem
exists.
Do not mix hydraulic fluids. Mobil 424 is
recommended for the hydraulic system.
CAUTION: After a new unit has run 5 hours, the oil
filter should be changed. This is to rid the system of
any trapped contamination from the wear-in of the
parts, see maintenance.
NEVER RUN THE ROLLER WITHOUT THE
PANELS IN PLACE OR SEVERE PERSONAL
INJURY MAY OCCUR.
3.3 BEFORE STARTING
1. Check engine oil for proper level.
2. Check air cleaner.
3. Check the fuel level and turn the fuel valve to
the on position.
4. Check the hydraulic fluid level.
