How to Measure?
Locating a Hot or Cold Spot
Emissivity describes the energy-emitting characteristics of materials.
Most organic materials and painted or oxidized surfaces have an
emissivity of approximately 0.95, the default setting for the product. To
enhance the accuracy of measurements, set the emissivity based on the
table in the next chapter “EMISSIVITY OF COMMON OBJECTS”.
To nd a hot or cold spot, aim the Digital Infrared Thermometer outside the target area. Then,
slowly scan across the area with an up and down motion until you locate the hot or cold spot.
1. Target the object you want to measure and push the trigger, the thermometer will be turned on
automatically.
2. Use the laser light to help to aim at the right point.
3. Release the trigger when a temperature is shown on the display, the product will beep once, the
measurement on the display will be locked and a “HOLD” will show in the lower-left corner.
4. Repeat the above steps to measure another object.
