THESPOTSIZECONTROLHANDLEislocatedontherighthandsideoftheoptical
systemjustabovethebaserail.Avariationofspotsizesfromfulloodtosmallspotcanbeobtained
bymovingthespotsizecontrolhandlefromoneextremetotheother.Beamintensityisincreased
bythisopticalsystemwhenreducingfromoodtospot,andmaximumintensityisreachedwhenthe
spotsizecontrolhandleisintheextremeforwardposition.
THEMAXIMUMFLOODSPOTisobtainedwithallthreebeamshapecontrollevers
totheright(towardoperatingside)forthelargestaperture,andwiththespotsizecontrolhandle
movedasfartotherearaspossible.
SMALLERSIZEDSPOTSareprojectedasthespotsizecontrolhandleismovedfor-
ward.Mostofthespotsizesneededwillbeproducedwiththeirisinitsmaximumopenposition.
FORA“HEADSPOT,”oranyspotsmallerthancanbeobtainedwiththespotsize
controlhandleinitsextremeforwardposition,shifttheiriscontrollevertotheleft(awayfrom
operatingside)forasmalleraperture.Theiriscontrollevershouldalwaysbereturnedtoitsex-
tremerightpositionbeforethespotsizecontrolhandleisagainmovedtoobtainlargerspots.
A“DIFFUSED”SPOTisprojectedbyslidingthespotsizecontrolhandlebackward
towardits“ood”settingwhileclosingtheiris(apertureselectorlevertowardleft).A“diffused”
spotisasoft-edgedspotwithlowlightintensityandisseldomrequired.
THEMASKINGSHUTTER(chopper)leveristhemiddleleverprojectingthrough
thetopoftheopticalsystemhousing.Themaskingshutterbladesareoperatedbythislevertoshape
theprojectedspottoarectangle,stripspot,ordousing.
THEDISENGAGEDPOSITIONofthemaskingshutterleveristotheextremeright
(towardoperatingside)andvaryingdegreesofmaskingtocompletecutoffareobtainedbymoving
thelevertotheleft(awayfromoperatingside).
THEANGLEofthemaskingshutterbladescanbeadjustedtocompensateforthe
horizontalprojectionangle.Removethecolorboomerangandopticalsystemhousing,andloosenthe
screwsholdingeachofthemaskingshutterbladesenoughtoallowmovement.Ignitethebulband
adjusttheangleofthebottombladebytappingwithascrewdriversoitsprojectededgeliesparallel
tothefootlights.Tightenthescrew.Operatethemaskingshutterlevertoclosetheblades.Adjust
theupperbladetocloseinlinewiththebottombladeandtightenthescrew.
