Why is there no gas to the burner on my Superior BBV-42REN when the pilot is burning and everything is on?

  If the pilot is burning but no gas is going to the burner on your Superior Indoor Fireplace, with the valve knob and wall switch on, several factors could be at play. First, the damper might be closed, or the damper switch could be defective; ensure the damper control lever is fully open. Second, the wall switch or its wiring could be faulty; check the connections and, if needed, bypass the switch to see if the burner ignites. Also, the thermopile may not be generating enough millivoltage; it should read 325 millivolts with the optional wall switch off, so replace it if the reading is lower than specified. Finally, the burner orifice might be plugged; inspect and clear any blockage.

How to fix a Superior Indoor Fireplace spark ignitor that won't light the pilot?

  If the spark ignitor on your Superior Indoor Fireplace isn't lighting the pilot, check for a spark at the electrode and pilot. If there's no spark and it's properly connected, replace the ignitor. If there is a spark, the electrode may be defective or misaligned; try manually triggering the gas mixture with a match. If it lights, an improper gap is the likely cause, so allow a longer purge period. If it still won't light, check the gap at the pilot — it should be ¹??" for a strong spark; replace the pilot if it isn't. Also, check the inlet gas pressure against the rating plate to ensure it's within limits. Lastly, the pilot orifice might be plugged; clean or replace it.

  If the burner on your Superior Indoor Fireplace won't light, start by ensuring the damper control lever is correctly positioned. If the damper control lever is locked in the open position, continue troubleshooting. Then, reset the limit switch button and check the leads for continuity; replace the limit switch if there's no continuity. Also, disconnect the two black wires and test the "OFF/ON" switch for continuity with a multimeter; replace the switch if no continuity is indicated.

  If the burners on your Superior Indoor Fireplace turn on and then off, first check the main burner orifice(s) for any blockage. Clean or replace them as needed. Also, inspect the vent system for any obstructions.

  Frequent pilot/burner outages in your Superior Indoor Fireplace may occur if the pilot flame is too low or too high, causing the pilot/safety to drop out. Clean and/or adjust the pilot flame to ensure maximum flame impingement on the thermogenerator.

  If the pilot light won't stay lit on your Superior Indoor Fireplace after carefully following the lighting instructions, the pilot generator (thermogenerator) may be defective. Check the pilot flame to ensure it impinges on the thermogenerator; clean and/or adjust the pilot for maximum flame on the thermogenerator.
