IGNITION COIL
Checking with electro tester

Remove
the
left
and
right
frame
covers,
seat
and fuel tank. (Refer to page 3-2)
Remove the ignition coil from the frame.

Test
the
ignition
coil
for
sparking
performance.
Test
connection
is
as
indicated.
Make
sure
that
the
three-needle
sparking
distance
is
at
least
8
mm.

Clean
the
plug
with
a
wire
brush
and
pin.
Use
the
pin
to
remove
carbon,
taking
care
not
to
damage
the
porcelain.
©
Check
the
gap
with
a
thickness
gauge.

NOTE:
If
no
sparking
at
spark
Plug
gap,
replace
the
CDI
unit
or
inspect
the
magneto
coils,
ignition
coil
and
spark
plug.
If
the
magneto
coils,
ignition
coil
and
spark
plug
checked
are
correct,
the
CDI
unit
may
be
faulty,
replace
the
CDI
unit
with
a
new
one.
