RIDING TIPS
STARTING THE ENGINE
Before attempting to start the engine, make
sure:
• The transmission is in neutral.
• The engine stop switch is in the “”
position.
NOTE: This motorcycle is equipped with
interlock system for the ignition circuit and
the starter circuit. The engine can only be
started if:
• The transmission is in neutral, or
• The transmission is in gear, the side
stand is fully up and the clutch is disen-
gaged.
NOTE: The fuel supply system stops engine
when the motorcycle is overturned. Turn off
the ignition switch before restarting the
engine.
When the Engine is Cold:
1. Close the throttle grip and push the elec-
tric starter switch.
2. After the engine starts, let the engine run
until the engine sufficiently warms up.
NOTICE
Check if the engine is under the follow-
ing conditions. If the engine is started
under the conditions other than those
mentioned, the serious engine damage
may result. If these conditions are not
indicated on the indicator, consult your
Suzuki dealer for checking.
• When the neutral indicator light comes
on, the gear position indicator should
indicate “0” (Neutral).
• When the neutral indicator light goes off,
the gear position indicator should indi-
cate either “1”, “2”, “3”, “4”, “5” or “6”.
