2. Check Engine Fuel
• Check fuel level at fuel gauge and refill if low.
• Do not overfill tank.
• Do not refill while engine is hot or running.
• Do not refill near open flames.
• Refill only outdoor.
• Wipe up spills immediately.
• Use 86 Octane or higher unleaded gasoline.
• Never use stale or contaminated gas or oil/gasoline mixtures.
• Fuel stabilizers are highly recommended to prevent fuel deterioration due to prolonged storage.
3. Check Generator Surroundings
• Do not operate around flammables or hazardous material.
• Operate in dry, well ventilated areas.
• Never operate indoors.
• Operate generator at least 3 feet from buildings.
• Operate only on level surfaces.
• Keep exhaust pipe clear and free of debris.
4. Grounding the Generator
• Connect grounding terminal on generator to #8 AWG wire size minimum grounding conductor.
• Connect #8 AWG wire size minimum grounding conductor to grounding stake driven at least
8 feet into the ground according to NEC 250-2(C).
• If grounding conductor or earth grounding stake is unavailable, connect grounding connector
on generator to grounding terminal of tool or appliance being operated.
• If unfamiliar with the local ordinances or codes relating to the proper grounding of a generator
it is highly recommended that you consult an electrician, a local inspector, or local agency
to ensure properly install the generator ground.
