What to do if there is bypass in Symmons Control Unit?
    • H
      hdayAug 7, 2025

Why does the temperature drop when using Symmons 7-400?
    • A
      Ashley GibbsAug 12, 2025
If the temperature of your Symmons Control Unit drops during draw (when sinks or showers are running), it might be because the valve was set in no draw mode. To fix this, run the showers and sinks, and then set the valve.

Why is the Symmons 7-400 Control Unit temperature too low?
    • A
      Ashley AlexanderAug 17, 2025
If the hot water temperature at your sink or shower is below the set point of the Symmons TempControl, it could be due to insufficient circulation of tempered water reaching the hot water source. To resolve this, consider re-piping the system according to diagram 2 or 3 (pg. 9), which allows the discharge of the pump (tempered water return) to go back to the hot water source and the cold inlet of the TempControl.

    Jose HortonAug 21, 2025
Why is Symmons Control Unit overheating when not in use?
    • A
      Amber CamposAug 22, 2025
If the thermometer in the Symmons TempControl outlet rises to the temperature of the heater when there's no draw (i.e., no sinks or showers running), it indicates that there is no circulation of tempered water because the return line is piped to the hot water source only. To fix this, re-pipe the system to diagram 2 or 3 (pg. 9), which allows the discharge of the pump (tempered water return) to go back to the hot water source and the cold inlet of the TempControl.

What to do if I cannot adjust the temperature on my Symmons 7-400?
    • T
      Tara VillaAug 27, 2025
If you cannot elevate or decrease tempered water by turning the adjustment bolt on your Symmons Control Unit, the piston may be stuck with foreign matter. Remove the cartridge and soak it in household vinegar for an hour. If the piston does not free after soaking, replace the cartridge.

Why does the temperature keep rising in Symmons 7-400?
    • V
      velezshannonSep 1, 2025
If the temperature of your Symmons Control Unit rises unexpectedly, it could be because it's not piped according to Diagrams 2 or 3, or the ball valve is too far open. Ensure a check valve is installed on the cold supply to the controller, or adjust the ball valve as shown in diagram 2 or 3 on page 9.
