4-1 REEL TORQUE

Measure tape transport reel torque using a torque meter for proper operation.

4-2 PINCH ROLLER PRESSURE

Adjust pinch roller pressure by separating it from the capstan shaft with a spring scale.

4-5 TAPE SPEED

Adjust tape speed using a frequency counter and test tape to meet specified deviation limits.

4-6 WOW AND FLUTTER

Measure wow and flutter during playback and record/playback using a dedicated meter.

5 ELECTRICAL ADJUSTMENTS AND CHECKS

5-1 PLAYBACK PERFORMANCE

Verify playback performance including azimuth, phase shift, output level, frequency response, and S/N ratio.

5-3 RECORDING PERFORMANCE

Evaluate recording performance for bias, record bias, record level, frequency response, THD, and signal-to-noise ratio.

5-4 ADJUSTMENT AND TEST POINT LOCATIONS

Locate adjustment points and test points on PCBs for electrical checks and calibration procedures.
