Using the Auto-Locator Function
The capability of being able to search out
designated positions is a real advantage in
tape deck operations. For instance, you may
want to search for a particular selection for
replay, copying or editing purposes, this can
be easily accomplished in the following
ways.
© STZ (Search-to-Zero) operation:
Press the CLEAR button when so desired
to memorize the “0.00.00” indication.
The position is automatically searched out
by simply pressing the STZ pushbutton
from any mode at high speed. After which,
the search speed is slowed down near the
memorized position, If the » key is
pressed while the transport is fast winding
to the location, the transport will auto-
matically go into the playback mode when
the memorized position is reached. If not
pressed, the transport will stop. Pressing
stop ( @ ), <4 or p> key during the search
Operation cancels the search operation and
causes the transport to go into that respec-
tive mode.
STC (Search-to-Cue) Operation:
Search operation can also be accomplished
without loosing the original counter
index.
The deck is operated exactly as in the STZ
Operation.
Press the CUE pushbutton to memorize
the tape position, and then press the
STC pushbutton as required. The TAPE
LIFTER can also be used to memorize
particular positions during‘ the cue opera-
tion by simply releasing it and allow-
ing it to return to the off position. The
memorizing function is completed the
moment the TAPE LIFTER is switched
off. When both CUE and TAPE LIFTER
are used together, the STC selects the
memorized position which was last
entered.

La possibilité de retrouver un point spéci-
fique sur la bande constitue une astuce
remarquable permettant d’assurer la sou-
plesse de manipulation d‘un appareil a
bobine, Il se peut que, par exemple, on
veuille retrouver sans perdre de temps une
partie déterminée a reproduire ou a copier,
ou bien sur laquelle on va pratiquer un
montage. Voici la solution:
© Dispositif STZ:
Presser sur la touche CLEAR pour obtenir
\'affichage 0.00.00 sur le compteur. Ce
point zéro sera repéré sans délai simple-
ment en appuyant sur la touche STZ, quel
que soit le mode sur lequel on se trouve; la
vitesse de défilement baisse quend on
s‘approche sensiblement du point mémo-
risé. Si l'on appuie sur la touche
> pendant que la bande défile a grande
vitesse, on passe automatiquement au
mode de reproduction une fois qu’on
atteint un point particulier; dans le cas ou
aucune touche de reproduction n’est
enfoncée, le défilement s‘arréte a un point
mémorisé, En pressant soit sur ( @), soit
<4 ou >> pendant la durée de STZ,
cette derniére étant annulée, le mode
correspondant sera engagé.

La recherche d‘un point particulier peut
tre aussi effectuée avec ce dispositif, sans
perdre |'affichage originel du compteur.
Ce que les touches de commande de bande
provoquent sur le dispositif STC est iden-
tique a ce qui est indiqué pour STZ.
Presser sur la touche CUE pour déterminer
le point sur lequel on reviendra, en ap-
puyant la touche STC. On peut aussi
utiliser le levier TAPE LIFTER pour
établir un point a rechercher; le point sur
la bande, au moment ot on ne reldche que
le levier TAPE LIFTER au cours du
“cueing”, sera mémorisé,
Dans le cas ou la touche CUE et le levier
TAPE LIFTER sont activés en méme
temps, le dispositif STC lira une position
mémorisée la derniére fois.
