How to Play a Prerecorded Tape Right
Away
Use it Now
To use your new X-3 right away, follow this
simple list and check each box with a pen-
cil. To realize the full potential of this deck
and understand all its features, it is impor-
tant to read the whole manual thoroughly.
1.ls your X-3 set for the AC line voltage
used in your area? See label on the rear
panel or carton. If in doubt, check with
the dealer. (ox]
2.Check that the POWER switch is OFF
(oO). [ox]
3.Plug the power cord to an AC wall out-
let or to the AC outlet of the amplifier
or receiver. (od
4. Using the pin cord supplied, connect the
Red R(ight) and White L(eft) OUTPUT
terminals of the X-3 to the “tape play”
or “tape monitor” terminals of the
amplifier or receiver. [ox]
5.Set the amplifier or receiver's volume
controls appropriately for playing a
tape — see instruction manual. (ox)
6.Set the switches and controls on t
front panel of the X-3 as follows:

7.Load a prerecorded tape on the left reel
table and an empty reel on the right reel
table. [ox]
8. Align the notches of the “QUIK LOK”
and secure them by turning about 60
degrees, Set the tape speed HIGH (0)
for 7-1/2 and LOW ( =) for 3-3/4 ips
depending the speed of the recorded
tape. [on
9. Thread the tape as shown in the illustra-
tion — see page 13.
10.Press the POWER switch to ON (=).
The meters will light.
11.Press the play ( >) button to start the
tape. [ox]
12.Gradually turn up the OUTPUT controls
to about “8”.
13.When you want stop, press the oe
button. If you want to stop the tape
momentarily, press the PAUSE button.
Tape starts if the PAUSE button is
pressed again, lox}
14.Now that your TEAC X-3 is “up and
running”, be sure that you get maximum
value from your investment by carefully
reading the rest of this manual. Informa-
tion on making recording is given on
page 13.
Pour écouter une bande
Pour utiliser votre nouveau X-3 immédiate-
ment, suivez cette simple liste et faites une
croix au crayon dans chaque case. Pour
réaliser le plein potentiel de cette platine et
comprendre toutes ses caractéristiques, il est
essentiel que vous lisiez ce manuel attentive-
ment et dans sa totalité.
1. Votre X-3 est-il réglé a la tension du sec-
teur de votre région? Consultez |’étiquet-
te sur le panneau arriére ou sur le carton
d’emballage. En cas de doute, renseignez-
vous auprés de votre revendeur.
2.Vérifiez que |‘interrupteur d’alimenta-
tion (POWER) se trouve bien sur OFF
(QO).
3.Branchez le cordon d’alimentation 4 une
prise de courant murale ou a une prise
d’alimentation secteur de l’amplificateur
ou ampli-tuner.
4.Au moyen du cordon de connexion
fourni, raccordez les bornes de sortie
(OUTPUT) rouge (droite) et blanche
Lamuche) du X-3 aux bornes “tape play”
“tape monitor” de l’amplificateur ou
de Vampli-tuner.
5.Réglez les commandes de volume et
monitor de l’amplificateur de maniére
adéquate pour reproduire la bande _ -
voir manuel d‘instruction. O
6.Réglez les commutateurs et commandes
du panneau avant du X-3 de la maniére
suivante:

7.Mettez une bande préenregistrée en place
sur l'arbre de transport gauche et une
bobine vide sur I’arbre droit.
8.Alignez les fentes de “QUIK LOK” et
serrez en tournant d’environ 60°. Réglez
la vitesse de défilement de la bande sur
HIGH (01) pour 19 cm/sec ou LOW
( =) pour 9,5 cm/sec en fonction de la
vitesse de la bande enregistrée.
9. Avancez légérement la bande comme
diqué sur illustration — voir page 13.{_}
10.Enfoncez I‘interrupteur d’alimentation
sur ON ( =). Ceci entraine |’allumage
des VU-métres.
11.Pressez la touche de lecture ( > ) pour
faire démarrer la bande. DO
12. Amenez Progressivement les commandes
de sortie jusqu’a environ “8”.
13.Pour arréter la bande, pressez la touche
STOP. Si vous désirez interrompre
momentanément le défilement de la
bande, pressez la touche de PAUSE. La
bande redémarre lorsque vous pressez de
nouveau la touche de PAUSE.
14.Maintenant que votre TEAC X-3 fait ses
“premiers pas”, assurez-vous d’en tirer le
meilleur parti en lisant avec attention le

Onmiddellijk in gebruik nemen

doorleest.
1.1s uw X-3 ingezet op de netspanning die
in uw gebied wordt gebruikt? Zie het
etiket op het achterpaneel of op het ver-
pakkingskarton. In geval u er niet zeker
van bent uw handelaar raadplegen. —[_]
2.Controleer of de netschakelaar (POWER)
is uitgeschakeld op “OFF” (Q).
3.Het netsnoer aansluiten op een wissel-
spannings wandcontactdoos of op de
wisselspannings contactdoos van de
versterker of ontvanger, oO
4.Met gebruik van het meegeleverde bana
nenpensnoer, de rode R(echtse) en witte
L(inkse) uitgangsaansluitbussen (QUT-
PUT) van de X-3, verbinden met de band-
weergave “tape play” of bandmeeluister-
functie “tape monitor” aansluitingen van
de versterker of ontvanger. CJ
5.De volumeregelaars van de versterker of
ontvanger correct instellen voor band-
weergave — kijk in de gebruiksaanwijzing.
6.De schakelaars en regelaars op het voor-
paneel van de X-3 op de hieronder
volgende manier instellen.

7.Leg een reeds bespeelde band op de
linker spoelhouder en een lege spoel op
de rechter spoelhouder.
8.Breng de uitsnijdingen van de “QUIK
LOK” in 6én lijn en zet ze vast door ze
ongeveer 60 graden te verdraaien. O
Afhankelijk van de snelheid op welke de
band was opgenomen, de bandsnel-
heidskeuzeknop op “HIGH” (12) zetten
voor banden opgenomen op 19 cm/s en
op “LOW” (=) voor banden opgeno-
men op 9,5 cm/s. 0
