1. Tum coverto dght(clockwise)to remove.See Figure

2. Remove paperfinerfrom flange.
3. Discardfilter.
4. Clean cover and flangethoroughly.
5. Insert new paper filter intocover.
6. Lineup tabs on cover withslots on flange.
7. Push cover firmlyagainst flange and turn to left (counter
clockwise) untilcover lockssecurely in place.
8. Secure cover and be sure it is in verticalposition.
E. Carburetor
Ifyou thinkyour carburetor needs adjusting,see your
nearest AuthorizedTecumseh Servicing Dealer. Engine
performanceshould not be affected at altitudesup to 7,000
feet (2,134 meters). For operationat higherelevations,
contact your AuthorizedTecumseh ServicingDealer.
F. Engine Speed
To avoid sedous injuryNEVER tamper withthe factory
settingof engine governor.Running the engine faster than
the speed set at the factory can be dangerous and will VOID
THE ENGINE WARRANTY.
G. Engine Stopping Mechanism
_This engine is equipped witha federally-
mandated mechanism whichstopsthe
engine and mower blade. To avoid sedous injuryor death as
a resultof contactwith the mower blade, donot interfere
with or bypass this mechanism. Parts of the mechanism
may be subject to wear and must be checked once a year
by an AuthorizedTecumseh ServicingDealer. Inthe event
the mechanism fails for any reason, you mustnot usethe
engine untilcorrected by an Authodzed TecumsehServicing
Dealer.
VIII. Seasonal Storage
If engine is tobe unusedfor more than a month, prepare
engine as indicatedbelow:
A. Fuel System
Fuel stored in the tank willgradually detedorate, leaving
gum deposits which willclogthe carburetor or fuel system.
To avoid these problems,treat the fuel system inone of the
two following methods:

Method 1
NOTE
Tecumseh recommends using ULTRA-FRESH TM or
Fuel Saver Plus Gasoline Stabilizer plus Fuel System
Cleaner as acceptable methods of minimizing formation of
fuel gum deposits during storage. Both products are avail-
able from your Authorized Tecumseh Servicing Dealer.
1. Add fuel preservative/stabilizer according to
manufacturer'sinstructions.
2. Run engine at least 10 minutesafter addingstabilizer
to allow itto reach carburetors.
NOTES
Always follow mix ratio found onstabilizer container. Failure
todo so may resultin equipment damage.
DO NOT drainstabilizer from carburetor. Doing so may result
in gum deposits and/or corrosionand cause equipment real-
function.
