If engine fails to startafter 3 attempts in the =FAST"
position,move engine throttlecontrolto "CHOKE"
position and startengine.
Ifengine does not start after following steps 1 thru 8,
contact your AuthorizedTecumseh ServicingDealer.
DO NOT attempt to start or troubleshoot this engine in
any other way.
VI. Stopping Your Engine and
Short-Term Storage
Stop engine according to equipment manufacturer'sinstmc-
tions.
I__ Never store the engine with fuel in the fuel
tank inside a building with potential
sources of ignition such as hot water and space heaters,
clothes dryers, electdc motors, etc.
VII. Maintenance and Adjustments
I_1_ To prevent accidental startingwhen
workingon equipment, always discon-
nect spark plug wire and keep it way from spark plug by
attaching it securely to grounding post. See Figure 11.
The mufflerand otherengine parts
FJ__ become extremely hot duringoperation
and remain hot after the engine has stopped. To avoid
severe bums on contact, stay away from these areas.
A. Checking and Changing Oil
To avoidengine damage, it is important to:

• Check oil level after every 5 operatinghourswhen
engine is warm and before each use. See "Checking
Oil Level" instructions.
Change oil after first 2 operatinghoursand every 50
operating hours thereafter; more often ifoperated in
extremely dusty or dirty conditions. Engine should
still be warm but not hot from recent use.
Be sure you find the correct drain plug location if
present. (See equipment manufacturer's instructions).

Disconnect spark plug wire and keep it away from
spark plug by attaching it securely to grounding post.
See Figure 11.
3. Make sure the gas cap is on and is tightened securely.
4. Clean area around oil drain plug. See Figure 12.
5. Place approved recyclable oil container under oil drain
plug, tipping engine to position the oil drain plug at the
lowest point on the engine. (See equipment
manufacturer's instructions).
6. Remove oil drain plug and drain oil. See Figure 12.
7. Installoil drain plugand tighten securely.
8. Fillwith recommended oil. See Page 2. See Figure 13.

Wipe away any spilled oil.
