I. Engine Without Choke and With Primer Bulb

3, When starling a cold engine, push primerbulb firmly
with your thumb 3 times, allowing pdmer bulbto return
completely to originalposition between pushes. See
Figure6.
NOTES
Cooler temperatures may require pushing primer bulb firmly
with your thumb 5 times.
DO NOT use primer to restart a warm engine after a short
shutdown. Doing so will flood the engine and may result in
equipment malfunction.
4. Operate equipment controlto release engine brake or
clutchif present (see equipment manufacturer's
instructions). See Figure 4.
NOTE
DO NOT operate an electric starter for more than 5 seconds
each attempL
5. Push starter button or turn ignition switchkey to
start engine.

When engine starts, release starter button or ignition
switch key.
If engine fails to start after 3 attempts repeat steps 2
thru 6 and try again.
if engine does not start after following steps 1 thru 7,
contact your Authorized Tecumseh Servicing Dealer.
DO NOT attempt to start or troubleshoot this engine in
any other way.
II. Engine With Choke and Without Primer Bulb
1. To avoid carbon monoxide poisoning, make sure engine
is outdoors in a wen-ventilated area.

Move engine throttle control to "CHOKE-"or "START"
ifpresent (see equipment manufacturer's instructions).
See Figures 7, 8 or 9.
NOTE
If restarting a warm engine after a shortshutdown, move en-
gine throttle control to "FAST" instead of "CHOKE" or "START"
position. See Figures 7, 8 or 9.

a. Release starter button or ignitionswitch key.
b. Move engine throttle controlto"FAST" position.

c. Next, move engine throttlecontrol to desired
speed in "RUN" range.
NOTES
If engine starts but falters when engine throttle control is
moved to "FAST" position:
a. Move engine throttle control back to "CHOKE"
posffion.
