Why is my Teknatool nova PRO-TEK SUPERNOVA2 chuck very stiff to operate or jammed?
    • V
      Valerie VaughnJul 27, 2025
The stiffness or jamming in your Teknatool Tools chuck is likely due to the accumulation of wood dust between parts over time. To resolve this, disassemble the chuck, thoroughly clean all parts, apply new grease/lubricants to the necessary components, and then reassemble the chuck.

What to do if Teknatool Tools jaws do not run true?
    • S
      Sandra RodriguezJul 31, 2025
First, ensure that the jaws are mounted on the chuck sequentially in a counterclockwise order, matching the numbers engraved on the jaws with the jaw slide numbers. Follow the instructions in this manual: Loosen the jaw screws and fully tighten the jaws after contracting the jaw slides. If the issue persists: 1. Loosen the jaw screws. 2. Using a known cylindrical part with a diameter of approximately 15mm, firmly clamp it in the center of the jaw. 3. Fully tighten the jaws while they are holding onto the cylindrical part.

What to do if my Teknatool Tools chuck body appears not to run true?
    • S
      Shannon PorterAug 5, 2025
Excessive runout of the Teknatool Tools chuck mainly originates from poor mounting of the chuck inserts (insert – spindle, insert – chuck) if it is an insert version, or poor mounting of the chuck body if it is a non-insert version. It can also happen because of mechanical issues such as debris contamination or inaccurately machined parts. To determine the level of runout of your chuck, follow the runout inspection procedure using a dial gauge.

What to do if jaw slides when wound to center do not meet on Teknatool Tools?
    • K
      Kimberly GrahamAug 9, 2025
First, ensure the jaw slides are inserted in a sequential order in the counterclockwise direction. Secondly, disassemble the Teknatool Tools chuck and physically place the jaw slides in the center and engage the scroll ring.

What to do if Teknatool nova PRO-TEK SUPERNOVA2 Tools insert jams when partially threaded into body?
    • K
      Kristina RodriguezAug 13, 2025
If the Teknatool Tools insert jams when partially threaded into the body: 1. Check that the insert thread and chuck body thread are free from damage. 2. Check that the insert has engaged with the chuck body thread correctly. 3. Check if there is any buildup of debris on either thread (insert and chuck body).

What to do if when Teknatool nova PRO-TEK SUPERNOVA2 chuck is being removed from spindle the body unwinds from insert?
    • S
      Susan JohnsonAug 18, 2025
To fix this issue, either lock the Teknatool Tools insert in the body using the grub screw and fiber washer provided, or use an insert spanner on the insert to wind the chuck off the lathe.

What to do if Teknatool nova PRO-TEK SUPERNOVA2 Jaw Slides closed to center and No. 1 Slide stays in center when jaws are expanded again?
    • W
      Wendy GlennAug 22, 2025
The jaw slides may have over travelled and got dislocated from the scroll ring. Ideally a complete disassemble and assembly is required to correctly place the jaw slides in place. By reassembling the chuck, it allows for an opportunity to inspect all the chuck parts for any defects (Especially around the scroll ring area).
