Acquire the Signal
5. Push Record Length.
Choose 100 k or 1.00 M points. The selectio ns
depend on the horizontal time per division
setting. 125 k and 1.25 M records lengths are
available at slower tim e per division settings.
6. Push the lower-bezel Delay button to select
On when you want to delay the acquisition
relative to the trigge r event.
With Delay set to On , turn the Horizontal Position knob counterclockwise to increase the delay. The trigger point will move to the
left and ultimately outside of the acquired waveform. Then you can adjust the Horizonta l Scale knob to acquire more detail around
the area of interest at the center of the screen.
When this delay is on, the trigger point sep arates from th e horizontal expansion point. The horizontal expansion point stays at
the center of the screen. The trigger point can move off the screen. Wh en th is happen s, the trigger marker turns to point in the
direction of the trigger point.
Use the delay feature when you want to acquire waveform detail that is separated from the trigger event by a significant interval of
time. For example, you can trigger on a sync pulse th at occurs once every 10 ms and then look at high-speed signal characteristics
that occur 6 ms after the sync pulse.
