1.General
A.CleaningProcedures
CAUTION:DonotcleananyMcCauleypropellerpartwithasteelbrush,othermetal
brush,hardbristlebrush,ortoolofanytypenotspecied.
CAUTION:Asapplicableduringcleaningprocedures,observeallowabledimension
limitsestablishedforcertainparts.
(1)Removedirt,paint(whenapplicable),greaseandoilfromalldisassembledmetalpartsof
propeller.
(2)UseMcCauleyapprovedcleaningmediumsonly(RefertoTable701).
(3)Cleanallsmall,highlynishedpartsseparately.
(a)Becarefulnottodamagesmallmetallicparts,especiallyonworkingfaces.
(b)Cleannonmetallicparts(exceptgaskets,packings,andseals)bywipingwithasoft,lint-
freeclothdampenedwithanapprovedcleaningmedium.
(c)Removethickorpacked-ongreaseordirtwithasoftbrush.
(d)Allowcleanedpartstoairdry.
NOTE:Removeexcessmoisturewithagentlestreamofclean,drycompressedairkeeping
nozzleofairhosewellawayfromparts.
(4)Protectcleanedpartsfromcollectingdustanddirtduringstorageorduringhandlingatoverhaul.
NOTE:Keepsmallpartsintransparentplasticbags.
2.ConsumableMaterial
A.General
(1)Thissectioncontainsinformationonmaterialscommonlyusedforcleaning,repair,rework,
painting,etc.
(2)ContactMcCauleyPropellerSystemsforapprovaltousematerialsnotincludedontheselists.
WARNING:Someofthechemicalsusedforcleaning,paintingorforapplying
aprotectivetreatmentcanbeharmfultotheskinandeyes.The
manufacturer'ssafetyprecautionsmustbeobeyedwhenhandling
cleaning,paintingorprotectivetreatmentmaterials.
B.MaterialControlRequirements
(1)MaterialspurchasedfromMcCauleyPropellerSystemswillbelabeledwithaMcCauley
expirationdateandcontrolinformation.ThisinformationisrequiredbyMcCauleyandwillbein
adifferentlocationfromthemanufacturer'slabel.McCauleyexpirationandcontrolinformation
takesprecedenceshouldtherebeanyconictinginformationwiththemanufacturer's
information.
(2)Formaterialspurchasedfromothersources,thepurchaserisrequiredtorecordtheexpiration
datecontrolinformationonthepackage.
C.DateCodeFormats
(1)Expirationdatemayberecordedusingtheletters"exp"followedbyamonthandyear.Inthis
case,theshelflifeofthatmaterialextendsthroughthelastdayofthemonthandyearrecorded.
(2)CuredateforelastomericproductssuchasO-rings,gaskets,andhosesisnormallyrecorded
onthepackagingusingthenumbers1-4,theletter"Q,"andthelasttwonumbersoftheyear.
Thismarkingindicatesthatthematerialwascuredduringaparticular"quarter"(i.e.threemonth
period)ofthestatedyear.Forexample,1Q12indicatesacuredateoftherstquarterof2012.
