Measuring Forehead Temperatures
Quick, Easy, and Reliable!
Power on device
Point at center of
forehead 1–2 inches
away
Press and hold START for 1 second—
a single beep tells you it’s done
WAND is pre-set to forehead mode and to display temperature in
Fahrenheit. Three short beeps followed by one long beep while taking a
forehead reading means that the temperature exceeded 99.5°F (37.5°C).

Summary

Using the ThermoWorks WAND

Power On Device

Press the Power button to turn on the device. The device is pre-set to forehead mode.

Positioning for Measurement

Point the device at the center of the forehead from 1-2 inches away.

Initiate Measurement

Press and hold the START button for 1 second until a single beep indicates completion.

Device Functions

Power Off and Auto-Off

Device auto-off after 60 seconds or manual power off by holding the Power button for 5 seconds.

Viewing Stored Readings

Press Power button momentarily to cycle through up to 25 stored readings.

Mute and Unmute Audio

Hold Power button for 3 seconds until speaker icon flashes to mute/unmute.

Switching Measurement Modes

Toggle between forehead and surface modes by holding Power and pressing Start.

Changing Temperature Units

Hold Start and Power buttons simultaneously for three seconds to switch between °F and °C.

Important Cautions and Handling

Preparation and Environment

Ensure forehead is clean and dry. Avoid temperatures outside 50°F-100°F and moisture.

Device Care and Maintenance

WAND is not waterproof. Handle with care, protect sensor lens from debris, and replace batteries when indicated.
