After connecting, users can access the 5G CPE web page to configure various settings, such as passwords, Wi-Fi SSID/Name, and other advanced options. The default URL for the web page and the password are also found on the sticker at the base of the device. Once logged in, the web interface provides a user-friendly environment for managing the hub.

Optimal placement of the Smart Hub is crucial for the best cellular network connection. It is recommended to place the device in a central location, ideally near a window, and close to a power source. Users should avoid placing it in basements or near concrete walls and metal doors, as these can reduce cellular signals. The web interface includes a "Suggested Position" feature that helps users detect network signal strength in different areas of their home and provides suggestions for optimal placement. This feature allows users to move the device around, detect signal strength, and save the results for future reference.

The device also offers the ability to change the operation mode, such as switching between Wireless Broadband Mode and Cable Broadband Mode. This is useful for different network setups, for example, when provisioning or setting up a static IP address.

Maintenance Features:

The ZTE MC801A includes several features for troubleshooting and maintenance, accessible through its web management interface:

Password Recovery/Reset: If a user forgets the admin password for the web page, the device can be reset to factory settings using the reset hole at the bottom of the hub. This process involves pressing and holding the reset button for about 3 seconds with a SIM ejector tool. After the reset, the device restores to its factory settings, and users can log in with the default password printed on the bottom label. It is recommended to change the admin password after a reset.
Wi-Fi SSID/Name and Password Management: Users can change the Wi-Fi SSID (network name) and password through the "WiFi Settings" section of the admin web page. This allows for personalization and enhanced security. It's important to note that changing these settings will disconnect all currently connected devices, which will then need to be manually reconnected to the new network name and password.
Parental Control: The Smart Hub offers parental control features to restrict internet access for specific devices. Users can access "Parental Control Settings" from the home page, add "Kids Devices" by selecting relevant devices, and then manage their access times. This involves setting up restricted access time lists, specifying days of the week, and defining time windows during which internet access is allowed or blocked. These settings can be applied to individual devices, and specific time windows or devices can be removed as needed.
Firmware Updates: The device supports firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and access to the latest features. Users can check for and apply new firmware through the "Advanced Settings" -> "Update" section of the web page. The device will download and install the latest firmware, then restart. The manual explicitly states that updating the firmware will not change any customized settings.
Diagnosis Tool: A built-in diagnosis tool helps users check if the device is working as expected.
