CheckingandAdjustingthe
CuttingUnit
Thedual-knobbedknife-to-reeladjustmentsystem
incorporatedinthiscuttingunitsimpliestheadjustment
procedureneededtodeliveroptimummowingperformance.
Thepreciseadjustmentpossiblewiththedualknob/bedbar
designgivesthenecessarycontroltoprovideacontinual
self-sharpeningaction—thusmaintainingsharpcuttingedges,
ensuringgoodqualityofcut,andgreatlyreducingtheneed
forroutinebacklapping.
Priortomowingeachday,orasrequired,checkeachcutting
unittoverifyproperbedknife-to-reelcontact.Thismust
beperformedregardlessofwhetherthequalityofcutis
acceptable.
1.Lowerthecuttingunitsontoahardsurface,shutoff
theengine,andremovetheignitionkey.
2.Slowlyrotatethereelinareversedirection,listening
forreel-to-bedknifecontact.Ifnocontactisevident,
turnthebedknife-adjustingknobsclockwise,1clickat
atime,untilyoufeelandhearlightcontact.
Note:Thereelmustcutasheetofpaper,when
insertedatarightangletothebedknife,atbothends
andthecenterofthereel.
