6.Afterdrainingouttheusedoil,returnthemachineto
theoperatingposition.
7.Pourabout3/4ofthecrankcasecapacityofoilinthe
crankcase.
Note:Max.ll:0.59L(20oz),type:SAE30orSAE
10W-30detergentoilwithanAPIserviceclassication
ofSF,SG,SH,SJ,SL,orhigher.
8.Waitabout3minutesfortheoiltosettleinthe
crankcase.
9.Wipethedipstickcleanwithacleancloth.
10.Insertthedipstickintotheoil-lltubebutdonot
screwitin,thenremovethedipstick.
11.Readtheoillevelonthedipstick(Figure28).
Iftheoillevelonthedipstickistoolow,slowly
pourasmallamountofoilintotheoil-lltube,
wait3minutes,andrepeatsteps9through11until
theoillevelonthedipstickisatthecorrectlevel.
Iftheoillevelonthedipstickistoohigh,drainthe
excessoiluntiltheoillevelonthedipstickisatthe
correctlevel.
Important:Iftheoillevelinthecrankcaseistoo
lowortoohighandyouruntheengine,youmay
damagetheengine.
12.Installthedipsticksecurely.
13.Recycletheusedoilproperly.
AdjustingtheSelf-PropelDrive
Wheneveryouinstallanewself-propelcableorifthe
self-propeldriveisoutofadjustment,adjusttheself-propel
drive.
1.Turntheadjustmentknobcounterclockwisetoloosen
thecableadjustment(Figure30).

Note:Pushthecabletowardtheenginetoincrease
thetraction;pullthecableawayfromtheengineto

3.Turntheadjustmentknobclockwisetotightenthe
cableadjustment.
Note:Tightentheknobrmlybyhand.
ReplacingtheBlade
ServiceInterval:Yearly—Replacethebladeorhaveit
sharpened(morefrequentlyiftheedge
dullsquickly).
Important:

.Ifyoudonothaveatorquewrenchor
areuncomfortableperformingthisprocedure,contact
anAuthorizedServiceDealer.
Examinethebladewheneveryourunoutofgasoline.Ifthe
bladeisdamagedorcracked,replaceitimmediately.Ifthe
bladeedgeisdullornicked,haveitsharpenedandbalanced,
orreplaceit.
WARNING
Thebladeissharp;contactingthebladecanresult
inseriouspersonalinjury.
Weargloveswhenservicingtheblade.
1.Disconnectthesparkplugwirefromthesparkplug.
RefertoPreparingforMaintenance(page16).
2.Tipthemachineontoitssidewiththeairlterup.
3.Removethe2bladenutsandthestiffener(Figure31).
