OperatingCharacteristics
Practicedrivingthemachinebecauseithasa
hydrostatictransmissionanditscharacteristicsare
differentthanmanyturfmaintenancemachines.Some
pointstoconsiderwhenoperatingthetractionunit,
cuttingunit,orotherimplementsarethetransmission,
enginespeed,loadonthecuttingbladesorother
implementcomponents,andtheimportanceofthe
brakes.
WithToroSmartPower™,theoperatordoesnothave
tolistentotheenginespeedinheavyconditions.
SmartPowerpreventsboggingdowninheavyturf
byautomaticallycontrollingthemachinespeedand
optimizingcuttingperformance.
Thebrakescanbeusedtoassistinturningthe
machine.However,usethemcarefully,especially
onsoftorwetgrassbecausetheturfmaybetorn
accidentally.Anotherbenetofthebrakesisto
maintaintraction.Forexample,insomeslope
conditions,theuphillwheelslipsandlosestraction.
Ifthissituationoccurs,depresstheuphillturnpedal
graduallyandintermittentlyuntiltheuphillwheelstops
slipping,thus,increasingtractiononthedownhill
wheel.
TractionAssistisnowautomaticandrequiredno
operatorinput.Whenawheelstartstoslip,owis
automaticallysplitbetweenthefrontandrearwheels
tominimizewheelslipandlossoftraction.
Useextracarewhenoperatingthemachineonslopes.
MakesurethattheROPSisintheraisedposition,
theseatlatchisproperlysecuredandtheseatbeltis
buckled.Driveslowlyandavoidsharpturnsonslopes
topreventrollovers.Forsteeringcontrol,thecutting
unitmustbeloweredwhengoingdownhill.
Beforestoppingtheengine,disengageallcontrolsand
changethethrottletoSlow.Changingthethrottleto
Slowreduceshighenginespeed,noise,andvibration.
TurnthekeytoOfftostoptheengine.
Beforetransportingthemachine,raisethecutting
unitsandsecurethetransportlatches(Figure57).
