position,shutofftheengine,andremovethe
key.
2.Removegrassclippings,dirt,andgrimefromthe
externalpartsoftheentiremachine,especially
theengine.Cleandirtandchafffromtheoutside
oftheenginecylinderheadnsandblower
housing.
Important:Youcanwashthemachinewith
milddetergentandwater.Donotpressure
washthemachine.Avoidexcessiveuse
ofwater,especiallynearthecontrolpanel,
undertheseat,aroundtheengine,hydraulic
pumps,andmotors.
3.Servicetheaircleaner;refertoServicingtheAir
Cleaner(page28).
4.Greaseandoilthemachine;refertoLubrication
(page28).
5.Changetheengineoilandlter;referto
ChangingtheEngineOilandtheEngine-Oil

analcoholbasedstabilizer(ethanolor
methanol).
Note:Afuelstabilizer/conditionerismost
effectivewhenmixedwithfreshgasoline
andusedatalltimes.
B.Runtheenginetodistributetheconditioned
fuelthroughthefuelsystem(5minutes).
C.Shutofftheengine,waitforittocool,and
drainthefueltank.
D.Starttheengineandrunituntilitstops.

10.Removethesparkplug(s)andcheckits
condition;refertoServicingtheSparkPlug
(page31).Withthesparkplug(s)removedfrom
theengine,pour2tablespoonsofengineoilinto
thesparkplughole.Usethestartertocrankthe
engineanddistributetheoilinsidethecylinder.
Installthesparkplug(s).Donotinstallthewire
onthesparkplug(s).
11.Cleananydirtandchafffromthetopofthe
mower.
12.Scrapeanyheavybuildupofgrassanddirt
fromtheundersideofthemower,thenwashthe
mowerwithagardenhose.
13.Checktheconditionofthedriveandmower
belts.
14.Checkandtightenallbolts,nuts,andscrews.
Repairorreplaceanypartthatiswornor
damaged.
15.Paintallscratchedorbaremetalsurfaces.Paint
isavailablefromyourAuthorizedServiceDealer.
16.Storethemachineinaclean,drygarageor
storagearea.Removethekeyfromtheignition
switchandkeepitinamemorableplace.Cover
themachinetoprotectitandkeepitclean.
