2.Inspecttheprimarylterfordamagebylooking
intothelterwhileshiningabrightlightonthe
outsideofthelter.Iftheprimarylterisdirty,
bent,ordamaged,replaceit.
Note:Holesinthelterappearasbrightspots.
Donotcleantheprimarylter.
InstallingtheFilters
Important:Topreventenginedamage,always
operatetheenginewithbothairltersandthe
coverinstalled.
1.Ifyouareinstallingnewlters,checkeachlter
forshippingdamage.
Note:Donotuseadamagedlter.
2.Ifyouarereplacingtheinnerlter,carefullyslide
itintothelterbody(Figure55).
3.Carefullyslidetheprimarylteroverthesafety
lter(Figure55).
Note:Ensurethattheprimarylterisfully
seatedbypushingontheouterrimwhile
installingit.
Important:Donotpressonthesoft,inside
areaofthelter.
4.Installtheair-cleanercoverandsecurethe
latches(Figure55).

OilCapacity:withalterchange—1.9L(64oz);
withoutalterchange—1.6L(54oz)

crankcasewithoilandruntheengine,youmay
damagetheengine.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengage
theblade-controlswitch(PTO),andengagethe
parkingbrake.
2.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition.
Note:Ensurethattheengineiscoolsothatthe
oilhashadtimetodrainintothesump.
3.Tokeepdirt,grassclippings,etc.,outofthe
engine,cleantheareaaroundtheoil-llcapand
dipstickbeforeremovingit(Figure57).
