How to fix uneven cutting height with my Toro Lawn Mower?
    • N
      Nichole WestAug 30, 2025
An uneven cutting height can result from dull blades (sharpen them) or bent blades (install new ones). Ensure the mower deck is level from side-to-side and front-to-rear. Clean the underside of the mower, adjust the tire pressure and contact an Authorized Service Dealer if the blade spindle is bent.

Why does my Toro Lawn Mower engine lose power?
    • P
      peggyglassAug 30, 2025
A loss of engine power can occur for several reasons. The engine load may be excessive, so reduce the ground speed. A dirty air cleaner can also cause this, so clean the air-cleaner element. Check that the oil level in the crankcase is adequate, and ensure that the cooling fins and air passages above the engine are free of obstructions. Also, the vent hole in the fuel cap might be plugged, so clean or replace the fuel cap. Lastly, a dirty fuel filter can restrict fuel flow, so replace the fuel filter.

Why won't my Toro 74945 engine start?
    • C
      Christopher WilliamsAug 29, 2025
If your Toro Lawn Mower engine won't start, struggles to start, or stalls, several factors could be at play. First, ensure the fuel tank isn't empty and the fuel-shutoff valve is open. Check the oil level in the crankcase and add oil if it's low. Position the throttle control midway between the SLOW and FAST settings. Replace a dirty fuel filter and clean or replace a dirty air-cleaner element. Inspect the spark plug for fouling or improper gapping, adjusting or replacing it as needed. Also, verify the spark-plug wire connection. If the seat switch isn't working right, check the seat-switch indicator and replace the seat if needed. Finally, examine the electrical connections for corrosion, looseness, or damage, cleaning and reconnecting them as necessary.

Why won't my Toro 74945 starter crank?
    • J
      Jennifer ReyesAug 28, 2025
If the starter on your Toro Lawn Mower doesn't crank, there are several possible reasons. First, ensure the blade control switch (PTO) is disengaged and the parking brake is set. Also, make sure the drive levers are in the neutral lock position and that you are seated on the seat. If these aren't the problem, check if the battery is dead and charge it if necessary. Inspect the electrical connections for corrosion or looseness, and replace the fuse if it's blown.

What to do if my Toro Lawn Mower engine will not start?
    • S
      shannonlewisAug 28, 2025
If your Toro Lawn Mower engine won't start, starts hard, or fails to keep running, several factors could be at play. First, ensure the fuel tank isn't empty and the fuel shutoff valve is open. Check that the oil level in the crankcase is adequate. For a cold engine, make sure the throttle control is midway between the “SLOW” and “FAST” positions, and the choke is in the “ON” position; for a warm engine, the choke should be “OFF”. Also, inspect the fuel filter for dirt and clean or replace the air cleaner element if it's dirty. Check the seat switch indicator and replace the seat if needed. Inspect all electrical connections, clean connector terminals, apply dielectric grease, and reconnect. Clean, adjust or replace the spark plug and check the spark plug wire connection.

What to do if Toro Lawn Mower blades do not rotate?
    • J
      jennifer31Aug 26, 2025
If the blades on your Toro Lawn Mower aren't rotating, it could be due to a worn, loose, or broken mower-deck belt; install a new deck belt. The mower-deck belt might also be off the pulley; install the mower-deck pulley and check the idler pulley, idler arm, and spring for correct position and function. Additionally, check the pump-drive belt for wear, looseness, or breakage and check the belt tension or install a new belt. A broken or missing idler spring can also cause this issue; replace the spring.
