Thecasterwheelsrotateonarollerbearingsupportedbya
spannerbushing.Ifthebearingiskeptwelllubricated,wear
willbeminimal.Failuretokeepthebearingwelllubricated
willcauserapidwear.Awobblycasterwheelusuallyindicates
awornbearing.
1.Removethelocknutandwheelboltholdingthecaster
wheeltothecasterfork(Figure61).

2.Removeonebushing,thenpullthespannerbushing
androllerbearingoutofthewheelhub(Figure61).
3.Removetheotherbushingfromthewheelhub,and
cleananygreaseanddirtfromthewheelhub(Figure

4.Inspecttherollerbearing,bushings,spannerbushing
andtheinsideofthewheelhubforwear.
Note:Replaceanydefectiveorwornparts(Figure61).
5.Placeonebushingintothewheelhub(Figure61).
6.Greasetherollerbearingandspannerbushing,and
slidethemintothewheelhub(Figure61).
7.Placethesecondbushingintothewheelhub(Figure
61).
8.Installthecasterwheelintothecasterforkandsecure
itwiththewheelboltandlocknut(Figure61).
9.Tightenthelocknutuntilthespannerbushingbottoms
againsttheinsideofthecasterforks(Figure61).
10.Greasethettingonthecasterwheel.
ServicingtheClutch
CheckingtheClutch
ServiceInterval:Every200hours—Checktheclutch.
Iftheclutchtakestoomuchtimetostartthemowerdeckor
stopthemowerdeck,theclutchneedsadjustment.
Tochecktheclutch,performstepsC,EandFunderthe
procedureofRemovingtheClutchShim.
RemovingtheClutchShim
Thisunithasbeenbuiltwithaclutchthatcontainsabrake
shim.Whentheclutchbrakehasworntothepointwhere
theclutchnolongerengagesconsistently,theshimcanbe
removedtoextendtheclutchlife.
