NOZZLE SELECTION L/HA
BEFORE SPRAYING
See the nozzle chart on pages 56 & 57 to be sure
that your spray nozzles have the capacity
necessary to achieve the application rate
selected.
To select the proper nozzle, you need to know:
1. Recommended chemical application rate in
liters per hectare.
2. Average Vehicle speed in kilometers per hour.
3. Nozzle spacing (20 inches or 50 centimeters).
With this information you can calculate the
volume per minute per nozzle, using the formulas
to the right.
L/HA (METRIC) FORMULA:
L/min =
L/ha x km/h x 50 cm
(Per nozzle) 60,000
Use L/min and Pressure to select appropriate
nozzle from chart below .
EXAMPLE (L/HA FORMULA):
Application Rate = 907 L/hectare
Vehicle Speed = 5 km/h
Nozzle Spacing = 50 cm
907 L/ha x 5 km/h x 50 = 3.78 L/min.
60,000 (per nozzle)
With 3.78 L/min and a pressure at 275 kPa you
would select nozzle No. 95-9188.

that your spray nozzles have the capacity neces-
sary to achieve the application rate selected.

gallons per acre or gallons per 1000 sq. ft.
2. Average Vehicle speed in Miles per hour.
3. Nozzle spacing (20 inches or 50 centimeters).
With this information you can calculate the volume
per minute per nozzle using the formulas to the
right. Then select the proper nozzle from the
following charts.

EXAMPLE (GPA FORMULA)
Application Rate = 44.6 Gallons/Acre
Vehicle Speed = 4 M.P.H.
Nozzle Spacing = 20 inches
44.6 G.P.A. x 4 M.P.H. x 20 = .60 G.P.M.
5940 (per nozzle)
With .60 G.P.M. and a pressure of 40 psi you would
select Nozzle No. 95-9224.
EXAMPLE (GAL/1000 FT

FORMULA):
Application Rate = 1.02 Gal./1000 sq. ft.
Vehicle Speed = 4 M.P.H.
Nozzle Spacing = 20 inches
1.02 GAL/1000 FT x 4 M.P.H. x 20 = .60 G.P.M.

With .60 GPM and a pressure of 40 psi, you would
select nozzle no. 95-9224.
