Why won't my Toro Power Max 1428 OHXE engine start?
    • J
      Jacqueline CaseyJul 28, 2025
If your Toro Snow Blower's engine won't start or starts with difficulty, several factors could be at play. Ensure the key is properly inserted and in the ON position. If that's not the issue, make sure the choke is ON and press the primer 3 times. Check that the fuel-shutoff valve is open and the throttle is in the FAST position. Also, verify that the fuel tank isn't empty or filled with stale fuel (use fuel less than 30 days old). Ensure the spark-plug wire is securely connected. Inspect the spark plug for any issues—adjust the gap if needed or replace it if it's damaged. Check that the fuel-vent cap isn't blocked. Finally, confirm the engine-oil level is correct, adjusting as necessary to reach the Full mark on the dipstick.

Why is my Toro Snow Blower engine running rough?
    • M
      Melissa NguyenAug 5, 2025
If your Toro Snow Blower engine is running rough, there are several things to check. First, ensure the choke is in the OFF position. Next, verify that the fuel-shutoff valve is fully open. Consider whether the fuel tank is nearly empty or contains stale fuel; if so, replace it with fresh fuel (less than 30 days old). Also, check that the spark-plug wire is securely connected. Inspect the spark plug itself, adjusting the gap if needed or replacing it if damaged. Lastly, make sure the engine-oil level is at the Full mark on the dipstick, adjusting as necessary.

What to do if my Toro Power Max 1428 OHXE Snow Blower doesn't discharge snow properly?
    • V
      Vincent HodgeAug 11, 2025
If your Toro Snow Blower runs but doesn't discharge snow well, consider these potential issues. First, ensure the throttle is in the FAST position when throwing snow. If it is, check that you're not moving too fast for the amount of snow; try shifting to a lower gear. Avoid trying to remove too much snow per swath, especially if it's heavy or wet. Make sure the discharge chute is not plugged. If those aren't the cause, the auger/impeller drive belt might be loose, off the pulley, worn, or broken. Try to unclog the discharge chute. Move the throttle to the FAST position. Reduce the amount of snow removed per swath. Do not overload the machine with extremely heavy or wet snow.

How to fix the electric starter on my Toro Snow Blower?
    • J
      Jennifer BurnettAug 20, 2025
If the electric starter on your Toro Snow Blower isn't turning, check these items: First, make sure the power cord is securely connected both at the outlet and to the machine. If the cord is connected, inspect it for wear, corrosion, or damage, and replace it if necessary. Finally, ensure that the power outlet is energized.
