UnitOperator’sManual.Checklinesfordeterioration,damage,leakageorloose
connections.Replacefuelhoses,clampsandconnectionsasnecessary.
DrainandCleanFuelTank
DrainandcleanthefueltankperiodicallyasrecommendedintheTraction
UnitOperator’sManual.Also,drainandcleanthefueltankifthefuelsystem
becomescontaminatedorifthemachineistobestoredforanextendedperiod.
IMPORTANT
Followalllocalcodesandregulationswhenrecyclingordisposing
wastefuel.
Tocleanfueltank,ushtankoutwithcleandieselfuel.Ensurethatthetankis
freeofallcontaminatesanddebris.
PrimingtheFuelSystem
Thefuelsystemneedstobeprimedbeforestartingtheengineforthersttime,
afterrunningoutoffuelorafterfuelsystemmaintenance(e.g.,drainingthe
lter/waterseparator,replacingafuelhose).T oprimethefuelsystem,Ensure
thatthefueltankhasfuelinit.Then,turnthekeyswitchtotheRUNpositionfor
10to15secondswhichallowsthefuelpumptoprimethefuelsystem.Donot
usetheenginestartermotortocranktheengineinordertoprimethefuelsystem.
RemovingtheFuelTank
1.Parkmachineonalevelsurface,lowercuttingunits,stopengine,engage
parkingbrakeandremovekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Placedrainpanunderfueltank.Ensurethatdrainpanislargeenoughto
holdfueltankcontents;refertoSpecications(page3–2).
3.Opendraincockonbottomoffueltankandallowtanktofullydrain.Close
draincock.
4.Disconnectwireharnessconnectionfromthefuelsender(item19inFigure
17).
Note:Beforeremovingfuelhosesfromtankttings,labelhosesforassembly
purposes.
IMPORTANT
Topreventdamagetofuelhoses,numerouscabletiesareusedto
securehosestomachinecomponents.Takenoteofallcableties
thatareremovedfrommachineduringfueltankremovalsotheycan
beproperlyreplacedduringtankinstallation.
5.Loosenhoseclampsandcarefullydisconnectsupply(item7inFigure17)
andreturnfuelhosesfromttingsonthetopofthefuelsender.
6.Removefueltank(Figure17).
