S t a rt in g Hib e r n a t io n Mo d e
To e nte r Hibe rna tion Mode , follow the steps be low.
1. Click the S ettings charm.
2. Click P o wer a nd the n s ele ct Hib e rn a te.
In orde r to s how Hibern a te in Powe r menu, you ne e d to s e tup a ccording to
the following s te ps:
1. Click Des kto p -> De s kto p As s is t -> Co ntrol P a n el -> S ys te m and
Sec u rity -> P o we r Optio n s .
2. Click Ch o o s e wh a t th e p o we r b u tto n does or Ch o o s e wh a t c lo s in g
th e lid d o e s .
3. Click Ch a n ge s etting s th at a re c u rre ntly u na va ila ble.
4. S e lect the Hibern a te che ck box from S hutdown s e ttings .
5. Click the S ave c hange s button.

The compute r ca n be configured to e nter Hibe rna tion Mode a utomatica lly
whe n you pre s s the powe r button or clos e the lid. In orde r to define the s e
settings, you ca n follow the s teps a s de scribe d be low:
1. Click P o wer Op tio n s and the n click Ch o o s e what th e p owe r b u tto n
does or Choo s e what c lo s in g th e lid d oes .
2. Ena ble the de sired Hiberna tion Mode s e ttings for Whe n I p re s s th e
powe r butto n a nd Wh en I c lo s e th e lid.
3. Click the S ave c hang e s button.

Whe n you turn off the powe r in Hiberna tion Mode, the compute r will ta ke a
mome nt to s a ve the curre nt da ta in me mory to the Ha rd Dis k Drive.
Afte r you turn off the compute r, and the conte nt of memory ha s be en s a ved
to the Ha rd Dis k Drive, turn off the powe r to a ny peripheral de vice s .
Do not turn the compute r or de vices ba ck on imme dia te ly. Wait a mome nt
to le t a ll ca pa citors fully dis cha rge.
