us ing the compute r - if you ma ke heavy use of e xterna l device s for
example , the battery might s ca rcely charge at a ll during ope ration.
B a t t e ry c h a rg in g n o t ic e
The ba tte ry ma y not be gin charging imme dia te ly unde r the following
conditions:
The ba tte ry is e xtre mely hot or cold (if the ba tte ry is e xtre mely hot, it
might not cha rge a t a ll). To e nsure the battery cha rges to its full
ca pa city, you should charge it a t room te mpe ra ture of be twe en 5°C to
35°C (41°F to 95°F).
The ba tte ry is ne arly comple te ly dis charge d. In this ins ta nce you
should le a ve the AC a daptor conne cte d for a fe w minute s a nd the
ba tte ry s hould be gin charging.
The DC IN/Ba tte ry indica tor ma y s how a ra pid de cre a s e in ba ttery
ope rating time whe n you try to charge a ba tte ry under the following
conditions:
The ba tte ry ha s not be en used for a long time.
The ba tte ry ha s comple te ly dis charge d a nd be en le ft in the computer
for a long time .
In s uch ca s e s you s hould follow the steps a s detailed be low:
1. Fully dis cha rge the ba ttery by le a ving it in the compute r with the power
on until the s ystem a utoma tically turns its elf off.
2. Conne ct the AC a da ptor to the DC IN 19V jack of the compute r, a nd to
a wa ll outle t tha t is s upplying powe r.
3. Cha rge the ba tte ry until the DC IN/Ba ttery indicator glows white (P70-
A)/re d(X70-A).
Re peat these s te ps two or three time s until the battery re cove rs norma l
ca pa city.

Re maining batte ry power ca n be monitored using the following me thods .
Clicking the ba tte ry icon on the Ta s kba r
Via the Ba tte ry Status in the Windows Mobility Ce nte r window
You s hould wa it at le a s t 16 seconds a fte r turning on the compute r
be fore trying to monitor the re maining ope ra ting time . This is beca use
the compute r ne eds this time to che ck the ba tte ry's re ma ining ca pa city
a nd the n ca lcula te the re ma ining operating time , base d on this
toge ther with the current powe r cons umption.
Please be a wa re tha t the a ctual re ma ining ope ra ting time ma y diffe r
slightly from the calcula te d time .
