Optical media drives
One of the following optical media drives is installed in the computer: CD-
ROM, DVD-ROM, DVD-ROM&CD-R/RW, DVD Super Multi and DVD±R/
±RW drives. An ATAPI interface controller is used for CD/DVD-ROM
operation. When the computer is accessing a CD/DVD, an indicator on the
drive glows.
For information on loading and unloading discs refer to the Using optical
media drives section in Chapter 4, Operating Basics.
Region codes for DVD drives and media
DVD-ROM, DVD-ROM&CD-R/RW, DVD Super Multi, DVD±R/±RW drives
and media are manufactured according to the specifications of six
marketing regions. When you purchase DVD-Video, make sure it matches
your drive, otherwise it will not play properly.
Writable discs
This section describes the types of writable CD/DVD discs. Check the
specifications for your drive to for the type of discs it can write. Use
RecordNow! to write compact discs. Refer to Chapter 4, Operating Basics.
■ The USB floppy disk drive should be placed on a flat, horizontal surface
when in use. Do not set the drive on an incline greater than 20

while it
is operating.
■ Do not set anything on top of the floppy disk drive.
