Auto‐Negotiation
WhentheAuto‐Negotiationfeatureisactivated,themediaconverterconfiguresitselftoachievethebestpossible
modeofoperationoveralink,automatically.Themediaconverterbroadcastsitsspeed(100Mb/s)andduplex
capabilities(eitherfullorhalf‐duplex)andnegotiates thebestmodeofoperationbetweenthetwo
devices.

discontinueframetransmissionforasetperiodoftimetorelievebuffercongestion.

TheAutoMDI/MDIXfeatureallowseitherstraight‐through(MDI)orcrossover(MDI‐X)cablestobeusedwhen
connectingtodevicessuchashubs,transceivers,ornetworkinterfacecards(NICs).AutoCrossdeterminesthe
characteristicsofthecableconnectionandautomaticallyconfigurestheunittolinkup,regardlessofthecable
configuration.
