LinkPass‐Throughisatroubleshootingfeaturethatallowsthemediaconverte rtomonitorboththefiberand
copperRXports forlossofsignal.WiththelossofRXsignalononemediaport,theconverterwillautomatically
disabletheTXsignaloftheothermediaport,thus“passingthrough”
thelinkloss.

ActiveLPTisaformofLPTthatrequiresthelinkstobecomeActivebeforeLPTbecomesActive.
WithActiveLPTthereare2states:Diagnosticand Active.
ThemediaconverterenterstheDiagnosticstatewheneitherofthefollowingconditions is met:
Uponpower‐upoftheconverter.
UponlosingLinkoneitherthecopperorfiberports.
IntheDiagnosticstate,thelinkforeachofthemediaconverter’sportscancomeupindependently
ofeachother,
justlikeaconverterthathasnoLPTfunctionality,oraconverterthathasLPTisdisabled.TheDiagnosticstateis
helpfulduringfirstpowerup,before alllinksofacircuitareconnected,asitallowstheinstallertoseeeachlink
turnonasthecables
arepluggedin.It’salsohelpfulforfindingthelocationofafault,ifoneexists.
ThemediaconverterremainsintheDiagnosticstateuntilthefollowingconditionismet:
Thelinkstatusforbothofthemediaconverter’sportsisup,simultaneously.
Afterthatconditionismet,ALPT
enterstheActivestate.ItremainsintheActivestateuntiltheconverteriseither
powereddown,oreitherthecopperportorthefiberportlosesLink.IntheActivestate,ActiveLPTworksas
shownbelow(thesameaswhenregularLPTisenabled).
