Overview

This document describes the Trotec IR 2005 SC and IRS 2005 radiant heaters, designed for quickly generating instant heat in roofed outdoor areas and spaces protected from weather exposure. These devices operate on the principle of infrared radiation, generated by a halogen heating element, which directly heats surrounding surfaces, persons, or objects.

Function Description:

The IR 2005 SC and IRS 2005 are radiant heaters that provide immediate warmth without circulating dust, making them suitable for allergy sufferers. They are equipped with three heating levels, offering flexibility in heat output. The IR 2005 SC is designed as a parasol heater, while the IRS 2005 is a floor-standing model. Both models feature silent operation and a splash-proof housing (IP34), ensuring durability and safe use in various outdoor environments. A key safety feature is the integrated tilt protection, which automatically switches off the device if it is knocked over or its upright position is significantly altered, minimizing the risk of fire. The heating blades can be extended for operation and retracted for storage or transport.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Models: IR 2005 SC (parasol heater), IRS 2005 (floor-standing heater)
  • Power Levels:
    • Level 1: 700 W
    • Level 2: 1300 W
    • Level 3: 2000 W (achieved by combining both flip switches)
  • Mains Connection: 220-240 V ~ 50 Hz
  • Plug Type: CEE 7/7
  • Cable Length: 1.8 m
  • Type of Protection: IP34 (splash-proof)
  • Operating Hours (approx.): 5,000 hours
  • Dimensions (depth x width x height):
    • IR 2005 SC: 900 x 900 x 100 mm
    • IRS 2005: 900 x 900 x 2100 mm
  • Weight:
    • IR 2005 SC: 3.6 kg
    • IRS 2005: 14 kg
  • Minimum Distances to Walls and Other Objects (for both models):
    • Top (A): 30 cm
    • Bottom (B): 180 cm
    • Sides (C): 100 cm
    • Front (D): 100 cm

Usage Features:

  • Heating Elements: Halogen heating elements provide instant infrared radiation.
  • Control: The devices are operated via two flip switches (8 and 9) to select heating levels (700 W, 1300 W, or 2000 W when both are active).
  • Switch-on Protection: Prevents accidental activation.
  • Tilt Protection: Automatically switches off the device if it is tipped over or its upright position changes, enhancing safety.
  • Installation:
    • IR 2005 SC: Can be fastened to an umbrella stand or a suitable telescopic rod (Ø 2.5 cm - 6 cm). The heating blades point downwards when installed.
    • IRS 2005: A floor-standing model with a telescopic rod and a stable foot.
    • Both models require the heating blades to be extended into a horizontal position until they click into place before operation.
    • Minimum distances from walls and other objects must be observed to prevent fire hazards. The device should be set up in an upright and stable position and not directly below a wall socket or in contact with moisture.
  • Operation: After installation, plug the device into a properly fused mains socket and select the desired heating level using the flip switches.
  • Shutdown: Switch off both heating level flip switches (8 and 9) to the "0" position. Allow the device to cool down completely before disconnecting from the mains.
  • Error Handling: The manual provides troubleshooting steps for common issues like the device not starting or not emitting heat, including checking power connections, fuses, and waiting periods. For persistent issues, contact customer service or an authorized specialist.

Maintenance Features:

  • Safety Precautions: Before any maintenance, switch off the device, disconnect the mains plug, and allow it to cool down completely. Do not touch the mains plug with wet hands.
  • Cleaning:
    • Clean the device with a soft, damp, and lint-free cloth.
    • Ensure no moisture enters the housing and protect electrical components from moisture.
    • Avoid aggressive cleaning agents (sprays, solvents, alcohol-based, abrasive cleaners).
    • Wipe the housing dry after cleaning.
    • Dirt on the heating rods should be removed with a long brush with soft bristles.
    • Do not touch the reflector or heating rods with bare hands.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the device in a dry place, protected from frost, heat, dust, and direct sunlight. It should be stored in an upright position, ideally with a cover. Avoid placing other objects on top of the device to prevent damage.
  • Professional Maintenance: Tasks requiring the housing to be opened or involving electrical components must only be carried out by authorized specialist companies or Trotec.
  • Disposal: The device must not be disposed of with household waste. It should be returned to designated collection points for waste electrical and electronic equipment to facilitate re-use, recycling, and prevent negative environmental and health effects.
