Why Troy-Bilt Horse Lawn Mower engine fails to start?
    • K
      Kelly FreemanAug 20, 2025
If your Troy-Bilt Lawn Mower engine fails to start, there are several possible causes. Ensure the PTO/Blade is disengaged by placing the knob (or lever) in the OFF position and the parking brake is engaged. Check that the spark plug wire is connected to the spark plug. The fuel tank may be empty or contain stale fuel, so fill it with clean, fresh gas (less than 30 days old). Make sure the choke is activated by placing the throttle control in the CHOKE position. The spark plug may be faulty, so clean, adjust the gap, or replace it. A blocked fuel line can also prevent starting, so clean the fuel line and replace the fuel filter. If the engine is flooded, crank it with the throttle in the FAST position. Also, ensure the throttle control lever is in the FAST position.

If your Troy-Bilt Lawn Mower engine won't start, several factors could be at play. First, ensure the PTO/Blade is disengaged by placing the knob or lever in the OFF position. Check that the spark plug wire is securely connected. The fuel tank should be filled with clean, fresh gas (less than 30 days old). Make sure the choke is activated by placing the throttle control in the CHOKE position. Inspect the spark plug for faults and clean, adjust the gap, or replace it if necessary. A blocked fuel line could also be the culprit, so clean the fuel line and replace the fuel filter. If the engine is flooded, crank it with the throttle in the FAST position. Lastly, ensure the parking brake is engaged, and the throttle control lever is in the FAST position.

How to improve mulching with Troy-Bilt Lawn Mower?
    • G
      Gina FrenchAug 28, 2025
If your Troy-Bilt Lawn Mower is not mulching grass effectively, ensure the engine speed is set high by placing the throttle in the FAST position. Avoid mulching when the grass is wet. If the grass is excessively high, mow once at a high cutting height, then mow again at the desired height, or make a narrower cutting swath. Check the blade; a dull blade will not mulch effectively, so sharpen or replace it.
