Overview

The True Induction Double Burner MD-2B Counter Inset Induction Cooktop is a versatile and efficient cooking appliance designed for both countertop and inset use. This manual provides comprehensive instructions for installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, ensuring a safe and optimal cooking experience.

Function Description:

The MD-2B is a double burner induction cooktop that utilizes electromagnetic fields to directly heat cookware, offering faster cooking times and precise temperature control compared to traditional electric or gas stoves. It features two independent cooking zones, allowing users to cook multiple dishes simultaneously. The cooktop is designed for flush mounting in a countertop, providing a sleek and integrated look, but can also be used as a portable countertop unit with the included feet.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power: 1750 Watts
  • Voltage: 120V/60Hz
  • Temperature Range: 150°F-450°F (with specific settings at 150, 180, 210, 240, 270, 300, 330, 360, 390, 420, and 450°F)
  • Level Selection: Settings 1-10 (HEAT function)
  • Max Timer: Up to 150 minutes
  • Material: Glass ceramic top
  • Unit Measurement: 20 ½"L x 14 ⅛"W x 2 3/16"H
  • Glass Top Measurement: 20 ½"L x 14 ⅛"W
  • Cut-out Dimensions (for inset installation): 13 ⅜" x 19 ⅜"
  • Minimum Clearance from Countertop Sides: 2 ½"
  • Minimum Clearance from Bottom for Air Circulation: 3"

Usage Features:

Installation:

For inset installation, a rectangular hole measuring 13 ⅜" x 19 ⅜" must be cut into the countertop, ensuring at least 2 ½" clearance from any side of the countertop. For flush mounting, a router tool can be used to round the corners of the cut-out. The unit comes with pre-installed foam gasket for sealing; simply peel off the adhesive protector and press the cooktop into the cut-out. For RV use, butyl tape is recommended for better adhesion and removability. For countertop use, four feet are provided to screw into the bottom of the unit. Proper air circulation is crucial; ensure at least 3" of clearance from the bottom of the cooktop to any shelving or storage, and do not block the intake or exhaust vents.

Basic Operation:

  1. Plug the power plug into a standard outlet. All indicators and the display will light up once with a beep sound, then turn off, leaving the device in standby mode.
  2. Place ferromagnetic cookware (containing water, oil, or food) on the center of the glass-ceramic top.
  3. Press the Power button to turn on the cooktop. The power display will light up, and an indicator sound will play.
  4. Press the Heat function key once. The default power level is "5."
  5. Use the "+/-" keys to adjust the HEAT setting from 1 to 10.

Power Invariance Technology:

The MD-2B features Power Invariance Technology, which manages the combined power output of both burners. The maximum power for an individual burner is level 10. However, when both burners are active, their combined total is level 14. This means if one side's power is increased, the other side's power will automatically reduce to maintain the total. For example, if one side is at level 6, the other burner will automatically adjust to level 8. If one side uses the HEAT function and the other uses the TEMP settings, the maximum HEAT setting for the HEAT function is "9."

Temperature Setting:

The cooktop offers precise temperature control. Use the "+/-" keys to adjust the temperature settings, ranging from 150°F to 450°F in specific increments (150, 180, 210, 240, 270, 300, 330, 360, 390, 420, and 450°F).

Timer Function:

  1. After selecting HEAT or TEMP mode, press the TIMER button. The display will show "0."
  2. Use the "+/-" keys to set the operating time in 5-minute intervals, up to a maximum of 150 minutes, or reduce by 1 minute.
  3. The display will count down the duration. Once the time is up, the unit will sound an alert and automatically enter standby mode. To continue cooking, press the Power and Heat buttons to restart.
  4. The timer duration can be changed at any time using the arrow keys without affecting the HEAT or TEMP setting.
  5. During timer countdown, the display shows HEAT or TEMP settings. Press the TIMER button once to check the remaining timer, which will display for 5 seconds.

Built-In Safety Shut Off:

The cooktop is designed to automatically shut off after 120 minutes of continuous use as a safety feature. This applies to both HEAT and TEMP settings. If the cooking zone is hot, the display will show "H." The unit can be easily turned back on and re-set if further cooking is required.

Child Safety Lock:

  • Activating in Standby Mode: Press the Lock key for 3 seconds. This prevents activation of any sensor key except the Lock key. To turn on the cooktop, deactivate the child lock first, then press the Power key.
  • Activating in Cooking Mode: Press the Lock key for 3 seconds. This prevents activation of any sensor key except the POWER key (to turn off the cooktop) and the Lock key (to deactivate Lock mode).
  • Switching Off the Lock: While in Lock mode, press the Lock key for 3 seconds. The indicator light will turn off.

Turning Off Unit:

Simply press the Power button to turn off the cooktop when finished cooking. The fan may continue to operate until the unit has cooled down.

Compatible Cookware:

Induction cooktops require cookware made of ferromagnetic (magnetic) materials. To check compatibility, use a magnet; if it sticks to the bottom of your pot or pan, it is compatible. Optimal cookware has a flat bottom and a diameter between 4.72" and 10.24" inches. Round, flat-bottomed pans yield the best results. Warped or curved bottoms will not heat evenly. For wok cooking, use a flat-bottom wok; do not use a wok with a support ring. NOT COMPATIBLE: Heat-resistant glass, ceramic, copper, aluminum pans/pots, round-bottomed cookware, or cookware with a base less than 4.72 inches.

Maintenance Features:

Cleaning:

  • Always switch off the device and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  • Clean the unit after each use to remove food residues.
  • Wipe the glass-ceramic plate and plastic surface with a slightly damp cloth (micro-fiber works best). Dishwashing soap may be used.
  • Ensure no water seeps into the device.
  • Never use abrasive cleaners (e.g., metal pads) or oil-based liquids.
  • Never run the cooktop under water.
  • A vacuum cleaner attachment can be used to remove dirt from the air intake and exhaust vent.

Safety Information (Important Reminders):

  • Do not touch the outside of the control panel when the unit is on, as residual heat may be present.
  • Do not immerse the cord, plugs, or cooker in water or other liquids.
  • Supervise children closely when the appliance is in use.
  • Do not operate with a damaged cord, plug, or after a malfunction.
  • Do not cook on a broken or damaged cooktop to avoid electric shock.
  • Use only manufacturer-recommended accessory attachments.
  • Keep the cord away from hot surfaces and prevent it from dangling.
  • Do not place the cooktop on or near hot gas, electric burners, or heated ovens.
  • Allow sufficient space around the cooking area for optimal fan ventilation.
  • Keep items with magnetic fields (radios, TVs, credit cards, etc.) away from the unit.
  • If using an extension cord, ensure it has an electrical rating at least as great as the appliance's and is arranged to prevent tripping hazards.
  • Do not use with empty pans/pots.
  • Do not place metallic objects (knives, forks, spoons, lids, cans, aluminum foil) on the cooktop.
  • The appliance has a polarized plug; do not modify it. If it doesn't fit, contact the seller.
  • To properly turn off the unit, press the Power button.
  • Disconnect power and allow to cool before any maintenance or repairs.
  • Clean with caution; do not clean while hot, as some cleaners can produce steam or fumes on a heated surface.
  • Use the cooktop only as directed by the manufacturer.
