MAINTENANCE
E
BATTERY CHARGING
1. Turn the ignition switch to the
OFF position and remove the
battery from the tractor.
2. Charge the battery in a well-
ventilated area.
3. Charge the battery with the normal
procedures and avoid quick
charging.
4. Turn the charger switch OFF and
c
onnect the cables to the negative
and positive battery terminals
correctly.
5. When using a charger, its charging
c
urrent should be below 10A.
CHECKING BATTERY
The electrolyte level of the battery can
evaporate during use thus lowering the
level.
Where it does so replace it with distilled
water.
Where a spillage has reduced the level,
replace it with electrolyte.
15
Electrolyte contains acid and can cause
serious burns.
Any spillage on skin should be washed
off by running water immediately.
CAUTION
Low electrolyte levels can cause
premature battery failure and corrosion.
IMPORTANT
BATTERY SWITCH
The function of the battery disconnect
switch is to disconnect the power
supply to the electrical system by
interrupting the connection to the
battery.
This has benefits for tractor safety and
operation, in particular:
1. Protects t
he electrical system
against short circuit;
2. Reduced battery self-
discharge
when the tractor left idle for
prolonged periods;
3. Allows maintenance and repairs to
be carried out in conditions of
safety.
