CHECKING AND ADJUSTING BRAKE PEDAL
The brake pedal's play increases as it is
used for an extended period of time.
If its play is excessive, adjust it.
<Adjustment>
1. Loosen the locknuts at each end
and turn the rod to adjust the brake.
2. Turning i
t anticlockwise increases
the free play, clockwise decreases it.
3. Tighten the locknuts.
4. Check th
at the free play is correct
and the same on both pedals to
ensure even braking.
GAP ADJUSTMENT ON FRONT
AXLE
1. Lift the front with a hydraulic jack to
get the wheels of the ground.
2. Then loosen the nut and tighten the
bolt fully and turn the bolt ½ to
loosen again in order to roll the
center pivot metal freely and
tighten the nut again.
3. While the wheels are still off the
ground, move the axle on the center
pivot as a final check that the gap is
set correctly on the top of the pivot
metal.
Uneven adjustment of the left and right
pedal will result in one sided braking
when the pedals are connected and can
cause serious accidents, especially at
high speeds.
Double check to ensure free play is the
same on both pedals.
