and
2.5.
It
is
unimportant
whether
completely
new
tape
or
recorded
tape
is
used
bacause
with
every
new
recording
the
machine
erases
any
previous
one.
B)
Setting
the
correct
record
level
Adjusting
to
the
correct
signal
strength
for
recording
is
called
“setting
the
record
level”
and
is
reflected
by
the
level
meter
(16).
Turn
level
control
REC
(15)
to
the
right
until
the
level
meter

ters
0
dB
at
the
loudest
programme
passages.
If
the
correct
28
record
level
is
not
reached,
the
quality
of
the
subsequent
play-
back
will
be
unsatisfactory:
there
will
be
strong
tape
hiss
because
the
optimal
signal-to-noise
ratio
of
the
machine
will
not
have
been
fully
utilized.
When
the
pointer
moves
into
the
red
segment
of
the
meter
scale,
the
recording
will
be
overloaded,
and
pllayback
will
be
distorted.
Consequenily,
particular
atten-
tion
should
be
given
to
setting
the
correct
record
level.
The
level
meter
registers
peak
signal
reading
on
a
scale
calibrated
in
dB.
C)
Choosing
the
type
of
level
control
The
type
of
level
control
should
depend
upon
the
situation
and
conditions
in
which
the
recording
is
to
be
made.
