the REPORT UNIVERSAL and insert the power/charger unit so
that the lettered side faces upward and the lead may be run
through the cutt-out in the bottom plate (see Fig. 3). The lead
may then be plagged into a mains outlet.
1.3. Protection against Power Fall-Out
With a storage battery in the battery compartment during ope-
ration via power/charger unit Z 145 or car battery lead K 647, the
REPORT UNIVERSAL will continue operation even upon fall-out
of the external power source.
1.3.1. Recharging UHER Lead Storage Battery Z 214
With the Z 212 inserted in the battery compartment, use UHER
lead K 645 to connect the side socket of PSU Z 145 to the A
socket on the UHER 6000 REPORT UNIVERSAL then connect
the PSU to the mains outlet (see sec. 4). But do not switch on the
recorder itself. A discharged storage battery in new condition
will be fully recharged in approximately 15 hours.

1.4 Operation on Car Batteries
Using UHER lead K 647/12-V, UHER 6000 REPORT UNIVERSAL
may also be powered by car batteries. The low power consump-
tion of the recorder allows long operation without appreciable
drain on the battery. For further details, see the instructions
supplied with the connecting leads.
