Connecting an EX detector to a SenseNET/RS-485
detector network
Up to 127 detectors may be linked in a single SenseNET bus, supporting a total
length of cable of up to 1.2 km. This can be extended with the use of RS-485
repeaters. HSSD-2 detectors have built-in repeaters.
In the example shown in Figure 16 on page 32, two EX detectors are linked into
a 127-detector bus with a Command Module and a number of HSSD detectors.
The HSSD-2 units have two input / output buses (1A / 1B and 2A / 2B) and the
EX has a single input / output bus (A / B), therefore each bus terminal has an
input and an output wire, compared with a single wire in each terminal in the
HSSD-2.
