APM 400/600 Safety Precaution
Warning: high leakage current
The unit must be connected to earth before it is connected to its mains inout and battery power supplies.
The equipment is fitted with an EMC filter.
The earth leakage current is less than 3000 mA.
Transient and steady state earth leakage currents, which may occur when the equipment is started, should be
taken into consideration while selecting instantaneous RCCBs and RCD devices.
RCCBs sensitive to the unidirectional DC pulse (Class A) and insensitive to the transient state current pulse
must be selected.
It is also necessary to take into account that the load earth leakage current of the load will be borne by the
RCCBs or RCDs.
The equipment must be earthed
in compliance and accordance with
the local electrical code of practice.
Warning: backfeed protection
A dry contact closure signal is available for connection to an external automatic disconnection device (not
supplied) for the UPS. This helps to prevent voltage being fed back into input line from the rectifier or bypass
static switch circuit. A label must be positioned close to all external incoming primary supply disconnect
devices to warn the service personnel that the circuits are connected to the UPS.
The text of the label should be as follows:
Risk of voltage backfeed: Isolate the UPS, check for hazardous voltage between all terminals, including the
protective earth, prior to working on this circuit
User-serviceable parts
All equipment maintenance and servicing procedures involving access to the internal parts of the equipment
require the use of a tool and should be carried out by qualified and trained professionals only. None of the
user-serviceable parts located behind the covers require a tool or key for removal.
Battery voltage exceeds 400Vdc
All physical battery maintenance and servicing procedures require the use of a tool/key. Such tasks should be
carried out by qualified and trained personnel only.
Take special care when working on the batteries associated with the UPS. Once they have been connected, the
battery terminal voltage exceeds 400 Vdc, which may cause serious injury or even death.
Battery manufacturers provide detailed information about working on or in the vicinity of a large bank of
battery cells. Read and adhere to all the precautions and measures described by the manufacturers. Ensure the
conditions set out in the Site Preparation section are maintained and that all the necessary protective clothing,
first-aid, and fire-fighting equipment is avialable.
Warning
The communication board is sensitive to electro-static discharge. Therefore, implement the ESD preventive
measures when handling or working on communication boards.
Warning
When selecting the UPS system pre-stage distribution protection equipment, ensure that it complies with the
local electric regulations.
The specified upstream breakers are required to obtain the conditional short-circuit current rating, Icc at 10kA
symmetrical rms. The specified upstream breakers should comply with an IEC 60947 series standard.
Warning
Once the internal UPS fuse is damaged, it must be replaced with a fuse having the same specifications and
electrical parameters, by qualified and trained personnel
